The Software Activation Number
In your Pacesetter Embroidery Lettering Software package, you will have
been given a software activation serial number. Use this number to activate
your software once it is installed.
Please note that, while this is a single user license, it does allow you to
activate the software on two computers that you own and operate.

Installing Pacesetter BES4 Dream
Edition
To install Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition:
1 Insert the Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition USB device into your
computer’s USB port.
2 Browse in your directory and run the Menu.exe file.
The following dialog will open.
3 Click on “Install BES®4 Dream Edition® Software.”
You will see the InstallShield introductory screen.

4 Click Next to proceed with the installation.
You will see the License Agreement dialog.
5 Check the radio button next to “I accept the terms in the license
agreement” and click next to continue.
6 Follow the instructions on each screen; the InstallShield Wizard will
then Install the software on your computer.
The Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition icon will now appear on your
desktop.
Program Updates
From time to time, the Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition software may be
updated to a new version. If so, you will see a dialog upon opening the
software, asking if you want to do the update. Select yes to download the
new version, or click No to use the version you have installed (you can
always download the new version at a later time).

If you choose to download the update, you will see a Save as dialog. Select
a location to save the install file to, and then install it as above.
Activating Pacesetter BES4 Dream
Edition
In order to use the Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition software (once it is
installed), you must activate it first. The Activation Wizard will quickly and
easily lead you through this activation process. You can choose one of the
following options to obtain a license:
• Using an activation serial number (requires Internet connection).
• By obtaining a site key from Brother Customer Service (for computers
without a connection to the Internet).
Activating Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition
via the Internet
If the computer on which you are installing Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition
has an internet connection, all you need for your activation is the activation
serial number that came with your copy of the software. The activation
code can be found on the back of the installation USB stick.
To obtain an activation over the Internet:
1 Do one of the following:
 Double-click the Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition Icon on your
desktop.
 Choose Start—All Programs—Pacesetter—Pacesetter BES4 Dream
Edition.
You will see the activation screen.
If you experience any issues with downloading the new install file (e.g., if
your connection being is blocked by your firewall) note that Pacesetter
BES4 Dream Edition uses port 443 to download the latest build.

2 Fill in the required activation information in the appropriate fields.
3 Type your individual activation serial number (that came with your copy
of Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition) into the Activation Serial Number
field.
4 Click the Activate Now button on the dialog.
Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition will open.
Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required – your software
will not be activated otherwise.

without an Internet Connection
If you have installed the software on a computer that does not have an
Internet connection, you will need a site key (in addition to the activation
serial number) to complete the activation.
To obtain an activation without an internet connection:
1 Do one of the following:
 Double-click the Pacesetter BES4 Dream Edition Icon on your
desktop.
 Choose Start—All Programs—Pacesetter—Pacesetter BES4 Dream
Edition.
You will see the activation screen.

Important Safety Information
Regarding use of the SD Wireless Card (the \”Card\”), note the following
precautionary information.
Warning
l Keep the Card out of reach of children and pets.
l Do not disassemble or modify the Card.
l Turn off the device in case the Card overheats.
Precautions about Wireless LAN
Wireless LAN communication sends and receives data between devices,
such as personal computers, and access points by means of radio
transmissions rather than wires. The radio transmissions enable a wireless
LAN connection even if there are obstructions. Users should take
appropriate security measures to prevent third parties from hacking or
stealing data transmitted wirelessly. Do the initial settings in this manual
carefully before using the Card.
Note that there is a possibility that communications over a wireless LAN
may be hacked by using some heretofore unheard of way.
Safety Information and Rules and Regulations for Wireless LAN
l Wireless LAN devices may cause interference with medical equipment
such as cardiac pacemakers. If you use personal medical equipment,
consult with your physician and medical equipment instructions before
using the Card. The Card should not be used in environments with
medical equipment such as hospitals and medical offices, or near users
of personal medical equipment.
l Always turn off wireless functionality if the computer is near automatic
control equipment or appliances such as automatic doors or fire
detectors. Radio waves can cause malfunction of such equipment,
possibly resulting in serious injury.
l Do not use the wireless LAN functionality near a microwave oven or in
areas subject to radio interference or magnetic fields. Interference from
a microwave oven or other source can disrupt wireless LAN operation.

l The transmission speed over the wireless LAN, and the distance over
which the wireless LAN can reach, may vary depending on surrounding
electromagnetic environment, obstacles, access point design and
configuration, client design and software/hardware configurations. The
transmission rate described is the theoretical maximum speed as
specified under the appropriate standard-the actual transmission speed
will be lower than the theoretical maximum speed.
The Card is compliant with local radio regulations in the following countries
or regions (as of March 2013): Japan, United States of America, Canada,
EU (European Union), China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, New
Zealand, Russia, South Africa. Use in other countries and regions may
violate local ordinances. You can check the latest information in the online

Regulatory Statements
When being used in U.S/Canada (international roaming), the range is
restricted to 2412-2462MHz and 1 – 11 channels.
